How Safe Is Taking Forxiga For Diabetes During Pregnancy?
Im a diabetic..and have been for 7 years, after my last pregnancy in 2007.i use metformin twice a day as well as lantus insulin once a day.I also take coversyl plus for my high BP.But today i went for my 6mth follow-up with my endocrinogist and he wants to take me off of the lantus insulin and try me on this new diabetic drug in combination with my other two drugs. Its called Forxiga.Ive done some research on it.I feel i dont need it.I have very controlled glucose levels. And in the past year i have also lost 65lbs.Im worried about using this new medication because i do take a BP medication that has a directic in it,and ive read u shouldnt take forxiga if u use a directic.Im fine and satisfied with my current regieme and feel there is no need to abruptly change my routine if its working for me!
If your glucose is controlled and you are not experiencing any adverse effects from your current regimen, then it is understandable that you do not wish to change. It is not recommended in persons taking loop diuretics eg lasix but if can be used with other types of diuretics.
You should discuss your concerns with your doctor. In the end, the decision, after discussion , is yours.
I hope this helps
