How Safe Is Taking Metformin Alone To Treat Diabetes?

I was taking both Metforman and Glyburide for my diabetes. I ran out of Glyburide and am taking 4 Metforman a day and at no point during the day or night does my glucose drop below 200 and generally stays between 225 and 325 I generally feel ok but not great I am 5'10" 350lbs 52 yrs old male, BP 130/85 and a college student with little time for exercise. I have had Sleep apnea for 12 years

thanks for using health care magic

Metformine and glyburide are oral antidiabetic drugs but with different modes of action. Combining both will greatly help in controlling your blood glucose level.

There are other drugs in that could be combined with the metformine and not necessary glyburide. You should report to your doctor so he could change.

Meanwhile, you could take up to 3000mg of metformine ( 6 tablets of 500mg each) a day at three different instances after meals and take in much water as well.
