How Safe Is Taking Thyronorm 100 Mcg For Hypothyroidism?
Sir,I had hypothyroidism and was asked to take 100 mcg thyronorm. I am taking this for the past nearly 2 years. Suddently, during the last 3 months, I started sleeplessness, chocking, palpatations, breathing problem etc., and now I am asked to take only 50 mcg. Kindly confirm whether it is because of overdose and how hypo has become hyper.
I would like to know how your thyroidal hormonal level is? Did you ever check the thyroid hormones or you just change the doses just because of your symptoms?
If you didn't check the TSH,FT4 and FT3 level lately i would recommend to do it (6 weeks after you have changed the dose would be better). If they are within the normal ranges continue with the dose you have and try to find another cause for your symptoms.
Not always symptoms suggesting a thyroidal dis-balance are really due to thyroid problems.
Hope i was helpful and i am opened for further uncertainties.
Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
