How Safe Is Using Aleve Liquid Gel Capsules Over Naproxen?

My husband had severe reactions to Advil--angioedema swollen lips difficulty breathing 20 yrs ago so has never taken NSAIDs except Aspirin which never bothered him--recently a Dr told us he thought it was the methylparaben in the Advilthat may have caused the reaction and that Aleve liquid gel caps did not have that in it so we have tried the Aleve 220mg plus got a Rx or Naproxen 375mg when we told the Spine specialist this info he has taken 1tab at night most nights and an occasional Aleve 220 in the am with great success concerning his pain in his neck which is related to Arthritis and has not been able to find anything that helped till now---that is till yesterday when he developed hives on the palms of his hand so I gave him Benadryl 25mg and used some essential oils on the hives --we did this 3x yesterday and he was able to sleep- today he still has some hives but not nearly as bad-seems like it is getting out of his system but I don t dare give them to him anymore my question are Aleve liquid gelcaps any safer than naproxen tablets?
