How Safe Is Using Novelon As A Contraception?

Hello doctor,I m starting to use novelon 28 day pack for contraception. However it is my 3rd day of period today. Is it safe to have unprotected sex if I start the tablets today? Or should I use extra contraception for this month?I have used novelon earlier for regulating my cycle. However, now 1 will be using it for contraception for the 1 time.
