I am 41 years old lady from India. I have been diagnosed with having problem of progresive keratoconus. I would like to know how serious is this disorder of the eyes. Are there any preventive medicines/ alternate medical treatments to arrest the progress of this condition at this age.
What happens oevr a period of time and is there a cure to this condition?
Hello It seems from the history that you are having progressive keratoconus. Progressive keratoconus can lead to corneal scarring which may require ultimatley keratoplasty. Hence it should be treated to prevent progression and formation of corneal opacity. The treatments available to arrest the progression of the disease are corneal collagen crosslinking called as C3R. C3R increases the corneal thickness and thus prevents the thinning of the cornea. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
