How Serious Is The Following Chest X-ray Report?

I had a stiff shoulder and went to the emergency room to have it seen. I requested for a chest x-ray just to see if I have any problem with it cause it was pretty hard to breath cause of the stiff shoulder. They found a mid left: lower lobe subsegemental artelectasis/fibrosis. I had acid reflux years before and i do smoke. Other results says everything is normal. How serious is these findings?

Radiologist 's  Response
Hello,

There are scarring changes and mild architectural disturbances in a small part of your left lung and might account for probably 5 to 10 percent (my suspicion) of the lung.

The rest of the lung is supposedly normal and therefore you are not having any serious concerns. You can get a CT chest scan to know accurate details of your lung findings on chest X-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vivek Chail, Radiologist
