How Should Elleste Duet Be Taken?

Good morning, I m taking Elleste Duet 1mg and I ve just taken one of the white pills but from the wrong day by mistake. Are they all the same strength so it doesn t matter or do they change in strength slightly as you progress through the pack? Many thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Elleste Duet is a Hormone Replacement Therapy. It contains two types of tablets. One white film-coated tablet contains 1 mg estradiol as estradiol hemihydrate.

One green film-coated combination tablet contains 1 mg estradiol as estradiol hemihydrate) and 1 mg norethisterone acetate.

One white tablet to be taken daily for the first 16 days, followed by one pale green tablet for the next 12 days.

If a tablet is missed it should be taken within 12 hours of when normally taken otherwise the tablet should be discarded, and the usual tablet should be taken the following day.

If a tablet is missed there is an increased likelihood of breakthrough bleeding or spotting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
