have Patient that was from amputation of 5 th digit left foot which developed osteomyelitis. Resultedin abscess of the wound and had been on negative pressure wound vac therapy. The wound was healing and now it was decided that santyl to the wound bed may be more effective as the patient is having difficulty remainig compliant with the wound vac treatment. Santyl was ordered to use until regranex is delivered from the DME. Regranex to the wound bed covered with dry dressing changed daily. How is regranex supplied? regranex foam or just the gel to be applied to the wound bed? Please answer best way to apply. Thank you
Regranex should be as a continuous thin layer to the entire ulcerated area(s) once daily using a clean application aid.
The site of application should then be covered by a moist saline gauze dressing that maintains a moist wound-healing environment.
The amount of Regranex Gel to be applied should be recalculated by the physician or wound caregiver at weekly or biweekly intervals depending on the rate of change in ulcer area.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
