Hi,

Mere pain or hardness does not necessarily indicate pilonidal sinus.

Usually, one gets definitely visible or palpable lump, overlying redness and raised temperature in case of inflammation or infection, discharge of pus or blood in case of any point rupture over the same.

Kindly get primary checkup with your nearby government hospital and get necessary help in this regard, rather than scarring for pilonidal sinus, as it may be a simple boil or another issue than that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
