How Should Persistent Fever With Shivering Be Treated?

My child 6 years 9 months old having fever from last Tuesday onwards. Fever starts with chillness/shivering some time reach upto 104 F. He is given with the medicines Meftal and Calpol both some times once in 3 to 4 Hours if fever not settled. Fever reaches 103-104 F two - three hours after giving medicine some times. Kindly advise next course of action required to get relief. The child was shown to Paediatrician who diagnosed that the fever is due to viral infection and it may take time to settle.
