How To Alleviate Headaches And Edema In The Legs Of A Heart Patient?

I am under congestive heart failure. I work 40 hours a week in a office job than 20 hours a week at walmart. My feet and legs continue to swell. I have great pain in the left one at times which causes me to work stiff at times no flexibility. I also in the last year have had some mini strokes too, which as caused me to have severe headaches on the left side of face. Light and excess computer stress causes left eye to shut and I have developed severe headaches. That seem to go away onced I close my eyes to get away from all light. Im going to see primary care doctor on Friday,,, I need to see if I can slow down this process or if there is anything I can do to get better?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In a diagnosed case of congestive cardiac failure, the work schedule you are following is hectic. A periodic relaxation with strict adherence to doctor's advise about diet, rest, exercises, and medicines is essential.

Cardiac failure causes deficient blood supply to all organs causing all of your symptoms.

To control your symptoms of head ache and pain/fatigue with swelling of legs, the regime suggested above is essential. Consult your cardiologist at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
