How To Ascertain That The Fetus Is Safe?

Im 21 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I was diagnosed thru ultrasound with female fetus in cephalic presentation. Placenta anterior previa totalis grade 1. Normohydramnios. Estimated fetal weight appropriate for 20weeks. Is it safe? Can i deliver normal? Thanks.

Hello and welcome,

i understand ypur concern as well as your query.

As of now , your ultrasound report is normal and the baby is well. The ultrasound tells us about the current condition but it cannot predict the future. It can tell us if there is a factor present early on that may prevent normal delivery like a low lying placenta etc but this is not the only reason that women have cesarean section.

The chance sof normal delivery or cesarean section depend upon how the baby grows during pregnancy, how the fluid around the baby behaves, if there are any associated complications like diabetes or raised blood pressure during pregnancy or if there are problems in the pelvis and it is too small for the baby to pass and so on.

So you can see that it is impossible to predict that you can deliver normally when the time comes.

As of now we can say that the baby is growing well and is safe and there is no other complicating factor in the pregnancy at this time.

All my best wishes are with you for a normal delivery.

Take care.
Hope this satisfies your query.
