Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi doctor, i am from india, i have query related to sexual intercourse. two days before i had sex with my girlfriend and she was on her fertilisation days. we had unprotected sex.. and i ejaculated in her vagina. within 24 hours she took oral contraceptive (Unwanted 72). but today we again had sex using condom but that condom ruptured during intercourse!! and again the sperms went inside her vagina. now please help me to avoid pragnancy should she take another tablet of unwanted 72 ?
Though there was a second act of unprotected sex, pills (unwanted 72) must be taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex. As you have taken the emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours of unprotected intercourse, it can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 95%. So, one pill is enough. But not always 100% protective.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
