Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My name is Wahid. I live in Islamabad Pakistan. My mom, 65 year, is a kidney patient with creatinine as high as 8.3 and BUN 107. She is also suffering from hypertension. She is not diabetis. her creatinine was 4.3 just 10 days ago but suddenly went high. We don t want dialysis. Please guide what medicine we should use to bring her creatinine down. I will be very thankful for yoru guidence. Thanks.
With such high creatinine and BUN she is already in serious kidney failure. In such situation dialysis is the only option. Because conditions like diabetes and hypertension if not well controlled are actually the precipitating causes for end stage kidney disease(EKD). You may not want dialysis but in this situation that is the only option that can help along with controlling of blood glucose and BP> Plus she has to be on insulin only for diabetes control as her kidneys are not in a state manage any metabolites of oral drugs. Please get an early dialysis done. Once improvement occurs then other options can be considered.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar, Diabetologist
