Hiii, 4-5 years back I used hydroquinone cream to clear spots on my right cheek but hydroquinone burnt my skin and a big dark patch formed covering my right cheek nothing helped now I have been to two doctors one has given kojic acid cream and one desowen cream I don't know what to use because earlier a cream has affected me badly can u plz suggest WAt to use among the two or should avoid the creams???
Thanks for your query . The skin lightning creams like those containing hydroquinone generally burn the skin that's how they work . Usually it is not recommended to use hydroquinone in more then 2% concentration.
If the skin that is burned by hydroquinone is red then it is mild skin damage which can be easily treatable .But if the patch is dark colored or black ,it means skin damage is severe . It is recommended not to use any other topical ointment containing any chemical ,so that skin condition will not be further aggravated .
I would you to consult dermatologist for proper examination .Doctor may recommend technique like dermabrassion and laser technique.
For now apply vitamin E oil at night ,petroleum jelly as moisturizer and aloe vera gel for protection from sun exposure .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
