How To Clear Excess Phlegm In Throat Post Tonsillectomy?

I had a tonsilectomy yesterday at 34 years old.I am having trouble eating the hydrocodone laced sorbet as well as soup and pudding due to the mount of mucous. Even my water is hard to get down. Is there any way to relive the amount of mucous that's blocking anything I try to consume?

Hi,

As per your excess mucous formation and hyper salivation is not an abnormal finding post tonsillectomy and occurs due to inflammation and irritation in throat due to injury to soft tissues and raw unhealed tissues after the surgical procedure.

As you have got the tonsillectomy procedure done just yesterday, you need not to worry as gradually when the healing will progress the mucous secretion will reduce. As the mucous production is in excess, therefore you can consult your treating surgeon and he can use a suction machine and use the tip to remove excess mucous from your throat and ease in eating and drinking.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
