I had two mammograms, and then an ultrasound. The right breast shows a small nodule with blood flowing through it whereby the radiologist indicated they would biospy it. The right breast also shows microcalifications whereby they are leaving alone. The left breast shows two areas of microcalifications - one being a linear cluster, and another being a hetorgenous scattered microcalification. I am trying to find the likelihood of precancerous situation of these type of microcalifications
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Microcalcifications are nonspecific sign and may indicate both benign and malignant lesions. Linear cluster may be worrying sign but still there more chances of being benign. but of course, it should be ruled out completely by doing MRI scan or ultrasound guided biopsy. This would show us exact pathological finding. Microcalcifications , as I said, may be precancerous in some cases but if these are present for longer period then these are probably just related to fibroids or adenomas which are benign changes.
