How To Confirm Requirement For Glasses?

My Neice aged 1 year & 2 months was taken to eye hospital as she had eye infection. after using the drops for a week instructed by doctor, we asked for a general eye check up. for which they told that she has eye prob. They have prescribed -7 as her power. pls advice should we have to use glasses now itself or should we wait for her to grow for 3 years. ? Does she will have prob for not using glasses..? Its very early age to use glasses. Our family is depressed

about that. My humble request you to advice.

Hi
Welcome to healthcaremagic
At this age refractive error can't be tested.Normally glasses are prescribed at this age for saint. They are first line of treatment and are very effective. I had 7 month old patient wearing glasses and now at 4 years she is absolutely normal. So don't get depressed. Sometimes if you don't correct at this age then it can result in LAZY EYE ( amblyopia ).So don't ignore your doctors advice
Happy to help you
Best regards
