Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter complains that food feels like after she swallows that it is still a little stuck in her throat. He has a pain directly in the middle of her chest the size of a quarter. We thought asthma, but the doctor said no. She has been on acne antibiotics for about 8 months. The medicine is minocycline and it is 135 mg. Could she have esophageal thrush?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your daughter taking Minocyclin 135 for the last 8 months for acne, now feels like the food is stuck in her throat, pain directly in the middle of her chest the size of a quarter. Wants to know whether this is esophageal thrush. Surely this can be due to esophageal thrush, esophagitis due to long course of Minocyclin, or anything else. This can be diagnosed only by an upper GI Endoscopy. So get an appointment for upper GI Endoscopy. Stop Minocyclin as it is already very long course. Let the report of upper GI Endoscopy decide the further management. Also get her blood sugar checked and other necessary tests.
