How To Control Blood Sugar Level Of 480?

My husband is a truck driver and his driving partner weighs over 300 lbs. and has a blood sugar level tested at 480. This scares me as he is diabetic and is an emotional eater. He eats sweets and junk all the time. Is he at risk, as well as my husband, for something serious to happen to him while driving?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear madam
i can understand your concern.
this blood sugar 480 mg/dl is an uncontrolled state of diabetes.
its not advisable to go on long journeys without proper control
this kind of high sugars can cause giddiness with severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance .
in a long run diabetes can affect his heart eye and kidneys.
the good news is with medications diabetes can be controlled and such complications can be avoided
i suggest him to consider going for medical advise as quickly as possible.
regards
