How To Control Low Blood Pressure?

Hi...I am worried that I may be having a problem with low blood pressure. I also have hypoglycemia which I had under control but which seems to be causing me to be dizzy and foggy headed. My resting heartbeat was just 68 bpm and the last two times I have been to the doc for sinus onfections and a check up for life insurance purposes, my blood pressure was so low they were surprised and commented on it. I feel my limbs are heavy, I am slighly dizzy and I just want to lie down. I am 35 years old, 5 5 , 142 lbs, have five children and am physically active. What should I do to check the blood pressure?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You will need evaluation for adrenal glands. Your symptoms are suggestive of low adrenal gland hormone called as cortisol. You should also get your sodium level tested. You get your morning 8 am cortisol level done if it's low then it supports the diagnosis and if it's normal then you'll further test like acth stimulation test which will be done by endocrinologist.

Till the time you get these test done you have high sugar, salt and fluid diet. Also monitor your blood pressure and sugar levels. You can buy electronic bp apparatus. If bp goes low you take salt and sugar water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
