How To Control Tobacco Consumption Which Is Causing Hypertension And Indigestion?

My husband is 62 years old and he is suffering from hypertension, high cholesterol, kidney stones and on medication for more than 2 decades and he had an angioplasty (LAD) before 6 years. In addition he has the problem of indigestion and gas troubles. He uses alcohol daily 1 or 2 peg. Recently he started to use Chaini Khaini. He was a chain smoker until he reached the age of 33 (which started in his teenage). Could you explain me the side effect of Chaini Khaimi because he is suffering from multiple health issues.

Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern for your husband. He is suffering from hypertension, raised cholesterol and many other health issues. He also has history of angioplasty. Tobacco consists of many alkaloids and nicotine is one of them. If we consider his health then nicotine can increase risk of hypertension and can accelerate the process of atherosclerosis (deposition of fats in blood vessels in simple terms). This may increase the chances of getting heart attack. I would advise you to please ask him to stop using tobacco and alcohol.

To reduce the craving and withdrawal symptoms medicines like Bupropion, Buspirone etc can be used. These medicines help to reduce craving of tobacco and also decrease anxiety. This will also improve his problems of indigestion. Please visit a psychiatrist for detailed prescription and evaluation.

Thanks, hope this helps you
