I ve gained allot of weight during this pregnancy and I m only 22 weeks. What medication can I take to air press my appetite during pregnancy that will not be harmful to my baby. I am in good health besides me weight gain. I m 5 1 and ALREADY 190 lbs. I have 18 weeks to go.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The increased in appetite is due to an increase in the the body's metabolic rate but though your appetite is increased, you can try to take a look at what you eat. The urge to eat can be followed by healthy foods that would not be associated with any or very little weight gain but still give the baby some nutrients. Salads, vegetables, low calorie drinks can be used. Reducing high carb options would also help.
The amount of weight gained can be tapered by altering diet and increasing physical activity such as walking or other allowed exercise. It is possible to only gain the necessary weight by monitoring intake and how much we output (activity).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
