Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m a young male who is struggling with my past. I was emotionally neglected as a child and this has started to affect my current life. It has only began to affect me now as I have only realised what has happened to me. It has affected my relationship as I am unable to talk about my feelings as I m too shy and can t put words to them. I constantly have conversations in my head the people close to me where I get out what I want to say but I never say it to them out loud. I constantly fantasise random scenarios sometimes about me or even what a movie character should have said. I m not feeling very well at the moment I m struggling as I fell like I ve been robbed of a childhood and now I m too old to do all the things kids and teenagers should. Please can someone help me
I feel sorry for your situation and can understand your concern. I can understand your childhood issues but you or me do not have any control over them now. What has happened in childhood has happened and it cannot be changed. So try not to regret continuously over past and live in present.
You have developed introvert personality due to lack of confidence you have always felt. Try to open up to your close friends and relatives and then you can open up to distant people or strangers.
As you are having conversations in mind, it is clear that you do have some unspoken words or feelings that need to come out and set you free. If you can not talk to friends or relatives, you can consult a psychiatrist or mental health professional. They are experts in understanding emotions and can give you counselling sessions to bring you into present life and forget the childhood trauma. They can also prescribe you medicines to make you feel better during the phase of treatment.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for trusting us with your query. Let us know if you need any further information. Take care.
