Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 65 and have acute tailbone pain which has not responded to drug or acupuncture therapies. I cannot sit at all or sleep. The pain burns through my whole lower body. (I have had blood tests for tumors and a colonoscopy which was all clear)I've had it for 14 months now. I'm desperate. I also have a heart condition which limits the type of drugs I can take and is worsened by stress!
I have studied your case. Buttock pain can sacral in origin which is in midline of buttock at end of tail bone. Do you have pain on tail bone? Another possibility of spinal nerve compression. Due to compression of spinal nerve root there can be pain in your buttocks
I will advise you to do MRI spine For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief. I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.
Prolotherapy may work for sacral pain but for nerve root pain it may not. Local steroid shot may help if nothing is working.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care.
