The test all came back negative for stroke, ect. My temp in house is warm. Then I was hospitalized for gi bleed. I m asking could there be an underlying condition? Thanks, Barb barbnana60yahoo.com
Hello and welcome to HCM, Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding can occur in number of conditions. GI bleeding can be from upper GI tract or from lower GI tract. Upper GI bleeding can occur due to ulcer, portal hypertension, esophageal varices etc. Lower GI bleed can occur due to polyps, vascular abnormalities, growths etc. In case of upper or lower GI bleeding, an upper GI endoscopy or colonoscopy will be required to look for the cause of bleeding. Episodic diarrhea and loss of appetite can occur in conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and malignancy. Consult a gastroenterologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus treatment.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
