Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been suffering for a few years with shaky legs/arms (shaky leg syndrome). Nerve pills do not help. I can t sleep at night without a sleeping pill, as the shaking won t stop, and usually only begins when I lie down to rest/go to bed. I read online that it is a pre-curser to Parkinson s Disease, is this true? What can I do about it? It s getting worse and I will soon be 68 years old. (female). I have seen several doctors who all tell me I just have shaky leg syndrom, but don t provide any help otherwise. Thank you. Karen
You may have Restless Legs Syndrome. It is a disorder in which, those affected feel a constant urge to move their legs to ease unpleasant sensations.
Sometime this problem may be related to anxiety specially in presence of following symptoms: Insomnia, anxiety, excessive worry and past/family history of anxiety/depression.
Pharmacologic treatment involves dopamine agonists or gabapentin enacarbil as first line drugs for daily restless legs syndrome, and opioids for treatment of resistant cases.
You can also tell me about other associated symptoms to understand case and help you better.
Wish you good health and all the best.
