To Whom It May Concern: During military service I did incur some hearing loss from close rifle fire. Suspected Meniries dis. at the time. Have experienced a low hissing sound since 1967. In 2007 I became hospitalized after a vertigo attack,since this date the hissing volume ( steam like) has increased tremendously 24/7. Suspected the medication ciprofloxin may have caused the increase. Is there any treatment for this ailment. Thank you in advance for any advice. L.A.Marsden
If the hearing loss onset was due to the rifle sound, Its more likely that the hearing nerve has got affected at that time. Meniers diseases is episodic,which means you will have a symptom free period between attacks.. Ciprofloxacin is unlikely to have caused this. i suggest you have to undergo audiometry...
