Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you for your help. I am writing this out of deep concern for my 34 year old daughter who lives with us. She has been on suboxone for several years for Vicodin addiction. Recently her insurance denied a suboxone prescription for her and she was forced to go into sudden withdrawal. I believe she was at 16mg per day. She is having terrible symptoms: depression, anxiety, chills alternating with feeling hot, severe intestinal cramping and diarrhea. I have read that one needs to taper off suboxone very slowly. Is she in danger and should she go to a hospital emergency room?
Hi I had gone through the question and understand your concern. Few drugs that helps in relif from suboxone withdrawal symptoms are: 1. Clonidine – A blood pressure medication that is often a doctor’s first choice for treating Suboxone withdrawal symptoms. 2. Gabapentin (Neurontin) – An anti-convulsant and analgesic developed to treat epilepsy, which is also used to relieve neuropathic pain. 3. Loperamide HCL (Imodium AD) – One of the best Suboxone withdrawal remedies due to it’s ability to stop diarrhea, ease gastrointestinal upset, and allow you to have somewhat of an appetite. 4. Topical Pain Relievers – Products like Bengay and Icy Hot can be used as Suboxone withdrawal remedies. 5. Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) – This refers to Suboxone withdrawal remedies such as Advil, Aleeve, and Tylenol, which are over-the-counter pain relievers.
I hope this information helps. Wish you good health.
