How To Deal With A 9 Year Old Girl Infatuated With A Woman?

I am a mother of 3 daughters. They are 9 8 and 6. for the past 2 years I have been in a relationship with someone of the same sex and we are now engaged. The last 6 or 7 months my 9 year old has become infatuated w my fiance. She cries if she is not aloud to go to the store with my fiance or lay on the couch or bed with my fiance. She makes comments to my fiance such as we look so good together constantly tries to kiss my fiance on the lips. We have even caught her sitting at the top of the steps next to the bedroom listening to us having sex. I don t know what to do about this but it seems like it keeps getting worse. And now it is causing major problems between me and my fiance. My fiance is scared of my daughter and no longer wants to be around her because of the way she acts and it s making my fiance uncomfortable. Please help

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your girl is about to enter the teenage or pubertal age. The hormones secretions and imbalances cause an emotional battle in her mind. Moreover watching her mother being close to someone might have caused her a bit of insecurity which is very common in that age. My sincere advice is please consult a psychiatrist.

First talk to the doctor and explain everything without the presence of your daughter. Then you can take her for therapy. Cognitive and behavioral therapy would help her overcome this problem. Please reach out to a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
