How To Detect Jaundice In Babies Without Blood Test?

My new born baby was last tested for jaundice level on 22nd February. We were asked to bring back baby for test on 23rd February. Before that, the baby was discharged from hospital after the jaundice treatment, by exposing her to blue light in hospital, and was asked to monitor her jaundice level. It has been almost 2 weeks now, 6th March, since her last test and want to know if there any other way to monitor the jaundice level besdies going for the blood test ?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Jaundice is due to an increase in the level of bilirubin. It can result in a yellow discolouration of the eyes and skin, this is the only other method that is available.
This detection by the naked eye, however would not be as accurate as a blood test.

It would be best to do a repeat test if your doctor advises that it needs to be done.

I hope this helps
