How To Diagnose A Lump On The Perineum Area?

Hi! About four days ago I was taking a bath and while washing I noticed a lump of some sort in between my vagina and anal but deep under my skin. When I examined it further and was following it it seems its coming from the inside of my vagina. After that I went to the emergency room and they said maybe a hemroid or a cyst that I should schedule an appointment with my gyno... What do u think???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Lump in the perineal region could be due to one arising out of vagina or anal canal. If it is arising out of vagina, it could be most probably Bartholin cyst. Depending on the lesion, it can be treated conservatively or surgically. Per speculum and clinical examination by a Gynecologist would tell about it's status.
If the lump is arising out of anus, it could be most probably hemorrhoids. This needs to be treated surgically by means of cryosurgery. Kindly get examined per rectally by Surgeon in this regard.
Kindly consult Gynecologist followed by Surgeon accordingly for appropriate evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
