Hello. My father, who is over 65 suddenly broke out in what looks exactly like chicken pox all over his body. He had fever too. His doctor said my dad had an infection and gave him antibiotics. it is slowly going away (this happened about 10 days ago). now my mom is having same thing, except she has no fever or/and discomfort. Doctor said both my parents have allergies. Something does not add up. Can you help us. My parents checked for bedbugs and they don t have them. thank you
first I would like to tell you that it is quite uncommon to have a chicken pox like lesions at the age of 65 years.
Your father could be having scabies or some rashes but I will need to see those lesion or broke outs to come at a certain conclusion.
Without clinical inspection,it it very difficult for any doctor to say exactly.
Since your mother also started the same lesions and your doctor said it could be some allergy for that I may agree but only after watching the lesions.
Your father and mother may take anti-allergic (antihistamines) like benadryl or cetrizine twice daily for symptomatic relief and should continue with antibiotics as suggested by your doctor.
