How To Diagnose If Muir-Torre Syndrome Associated With Colon Cancer?

I RECENTLY HAD A SEBACIOUS ADENOMA REMOVED FROM MY CHIN BY A DERMATOLOGIST. THE DOCTOR STATED THAT IT MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH/MUIR TORIE SYNDROME. SHE HAD ASKED WHEN MY LAST COLONOSCOPY WAS AND I TOLD HER IN 2014. THE DOCTOR SAID AT THAT TIME THAT MY TESTING RESULTS WERE NORMAL. IS THIS ASSOCIATED WITH CANCER, COLON CANCER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

MuirTorie Syndrome is a rare inherited disorder that involves at least one sebaceous tumor or keratoacanthoma in addition to one visceral malignancy. Colon cancer. But in your case colonoscopy test is normal-? Did biopsy-result normal? If biopsy normal means not related.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr C.ELANCHEZHIAN, General & Family Physician
