How To Ensure Adequate Iron Intake, Without Supplements, In First Trimester?

Hi I am four weeks pregnant and have Hb % 9.4. My doctor although suggested folic acid tablets but told not to take iron medicines during first trimester and to rely on fruits and food for iron intake. Being a working women I use to feel so tired. What to do.

Hi. Such feeling like tiredness, nausea, dizzy is normal during pregnancy and not surely due to anaemia. You can take small and frequent meals to boost yourself.
Take lot of fruits , salads, liquids and keep yourself hydrated. However, foods rich in iron are liver, chicken,red meat, ( if you are a non vegetarian) but take it baked or boiled or roasted and not fried or spicy.
For vegetarians, beetroot,jaggery(gur), spinach are the best iron rich foods.
