How To Gain Weight After Suffering From Frequent Pancreatitis?

My husband has had frequent pancreatitis attacks and hospitals of many days for these. He continues to lose weight and he needs to be gaining. He is having more and more each month and while I was reading everything I suspect its the sugarless gum which he thinks he can not live without. The doctor never mentioned anything about sugarless gum so since he sees him as his God of this disease he doesn t believe it. And the doctor didn t really say much about diet except low fat. So now he is buying cookies dependent on fat content. GEESHE! I wish they would send him to a nutritionist.
