How To Get Bowel Movements While On Preparation For Colonoscopy?
I am having a colonosphy at 6:45 AM and I am taking the preparation to get the bowels cleaned out. I have half of the preparation down, however, I am having a gag problem trying to get the rest down. Also, the bowels have not started yet. I am a 78 year old woman with a lot of health issues and I just do not know what to do now. I am a widow and very little money to live on, and I d hoped I could get a free answer.
The best thing to do is to try to drink the prep given. It is important to continue the prep until your stools turn clear.
If you are simply unable to complete the prep, then you can try over the counter miralax until your stools are clear, but I highly recommend that you call the physician or clinic prior to changing the colon prep. I also recommend that if you are not able to complete the prep (i.e. have fully clear stools) then it may be best to postpone the procedure since the physician will not be able to visualize the colon well.
