How To Get Relief From Constipation And Continuous Mucus Discharge While Treating Colon Cancer?

Am being treated for colon cancer. I am now having problems with constipation with large stools when do get relief. Continuous mucus discharge which is uncontrollable. What should be my biggest concern and what action should I take.Was told this could just be a normal reaction.
