Hi,
Discoloration of skin colour is known as skin pigmentation. Skin gets colour from a pigment called melanin. If the melanin cells become unhealthy due to any reasons then they can start with more melanin productions which may develop pigmentation on any part of the body like skin of face, forehead, cheeks, chin, above the
upper lip etc. Skin discoloration on face is of several types like
melasma, age spots, sunspots, post inflammatory, freckles etc. Skin pigmentation may result from prolonged exposure to sunlight, skin problems, skin injuries,
hormonal changes, Addison's disease, drugs etc. Application of hydroxyquinone containing cream,
hydrocortisone containing cream, topical sunscreen etc on affected area with oral intake of
vitamin C supplements may help to remove dark skin and scars.
Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.
