I'm 21 years of age. I never had a skin problem until now. I'm not a soda drinker at all. My face seems to break out, randomly and when does and the bumps go away they leave brown marks Ob my face. :'( help. I never liked make up but because of this situation, make up is my best buddy. Also I have unwanted hair. ?? I know they say hormones but any other causes??
Facial hair and acne in a female, does seem to suggest underlying hormonal abnormality. I would have liked to gather more information from you regarding this:
--Any irregularity in the menstural cycles?
Polycystic Ovarian disease is always a possibility that has to be ruled out in females with Acne. PCOD in females classically presents with signs of hyperandrogenism e.g Acne , Hirsutism, Hair fall, Irregular menstural cycles along with Cyst on Ultrasound.
Specific Treatment for PCOD is with oral monthly hormonal pills/OCPs(Oral contraceptive pills) e.g Ethinyl estradiol and cyproterone acetate pills are available as a pack of 21 tablets.
You could use a topical antiacne gel like either clindamycin or benzoyl peroxide gel once or twice daily for existing acne
