Hello and Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I have understood your concern.

Laser hair reduction (LHR) is a very safe and reliable way for hair reduction. Normally 6-8 sittings will achieve a good hair reduction. The hair will become finer, the density will decrease and thereby greatly reduced.

It is FDA approved for hair reduction and gives long lasting results.

However, Laser may not produce the desired results if there is an underlying hormonal imbalance. Polycystic Ovarian disease is always a possibility that has to be ruled out in females with excess, coarse facial hair.

I would like to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help you better.

--Do you have any abnormality in your menstural cycles? Are they regular or irregular?
--Do you also suffer from Coarse Facial Hair?

PCOD in females classically presents with signs of hyperandrogenism e.g Acne , Hirsutism, Hair fall, Irregular menstural cycles along with Cyst on Ultrasound.

Therefore, prior to Laser for Hair Reduction, any underlying hormonal abnormality if clinically suspected should be confirmed by a lab tests e.g

Serum Testosterone
Serum DHEAS(Dihydroepiandrostenedione sulphate).
Serum LH/FSH
Serum Prolactin
Pelvic ultrasound for polycystic ovaries

If there is an underlying hormonal imbalance, confirmed by blood tests then specific treatment with oral monthly hormonal pills/OCPs(Oral contraceptive pills) is advisable e.g Ethinyl estradiol and cyproterone acetate pills are available as a pack of 21 tablets, along with laser hair reduction.

Hope this helps
