Hello and welcome to HCM, Lymph node enlargement is the most common cause of lump under the arm pit. However, a clinical assessment is necessary to know the nature of lesion under the arm pit. An aspitaion cytology of the lesion is required to aspirated the cells from the lump. The aspirated cells are spread on a slide and stained with appropriate stains. The stained cells are studied under the microscope to assess the nature of the lesion. Reactive change is the most common cause of lymph node enlargement. Further management will depend on the nature of the lump.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
