Dear Varsha,
Masturbation is not a bad habit, it is not a sin nor is it dirty act. Nature has given sex to the living beings to continue the species.
Sexual desire is a physiological phenomenon, moreover it is an essential instinct of life, next to hunger and protection.
During the sexual desire, blood supply to the genital organ increases causing congestion of pelvis and pelvic organs. When the sexual desire is satisfied, the congestion goes away. Unsatisfied sexual urge for a prolonged period may cause chronic congestion leading to chronic low back ache, menstrual disorders, etc.
Many women in the world do masturbate, some masturbate vaginally while some are satisfied with the clitoral sensations only. Masturbation is a safe way of satisfying sexual desire without any risk of
pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases,
HIV, etc.
The feeling of
depression and sadness is out of the guilty feeling. I have explained you the psychophysiology of masturbation. So please get rid of the guilty feeling from your mind and all your other feelings will go away.
However, you have to take care of not getting addicted to this habit. For that, you may follow some of the following tips:
1. Restrict the number of acts per day to your wish. Gradually go on diminishing the number.
2. Avoid erotic literature or media.
3. Masturbation is always associated with a thought of fantasy. Try to live in real practical life. Have a good friends' circle with whom you will stop thinking of sex and erotic experiences.
4. Read some spiritual books.
5. Practise
meditation.
6. Remove the guilty feeling from the mind.
7. If needed, take help of a counsellor.
I hope this all will make you mentally stable.
