General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Acne occurs as a result of : (1) blockage of the follicles in the skin
(2)excess sebum production (sebum is a oily waxy substance)
(3)inflammation of the skin
(4)presence of particular bacteria

It is best to use agents that would address most or all of these. Acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide or topical antibiotics may help.

If this is not effective then you may need other treatment such as antibiotics, topical or oral retinoids.

I hope this helps
