Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ate salted almonds. Now I have salty lips. How can I get rid of the residual salt from my lips? It has been four days, since the almonds, and it isn t improving one bit. I have excellent oral hygiene, brushing for four minutes daily with an electric toothbrush, deep floss daily including tongue and palate.
As per your complain salty taste over the lips can not be due to eating almonds and can be related to some underlying pathology like oral infections leading to pus discharge, dry mouth, salivary gland infections, cold and cough, side effect of any medication, smoking, alcohol intake etc..
So I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and treatment of the underlying cause can help in resolution of the problem..
As of now you can do gargles with antiseptic mouthwash, gargle with normal water many times a day, chew sugarfree chewing gums, brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each and maintain a good oral hygiene.. Avoid smoking or alcohol intake if you do..
Hope this helps..
Regards,
