My African American grandson (7 days old) has very dark skin pigmentation around his ears. (His lips are not dark) The other parts of his body are much lighter. Should my daughter and son-in-law be concerned? Please note, daddy is dark skin and mommy is brown skin.
I can understand your concern dark skin pigmentation.
If I were his dermatologist then I would have suggested you to wait and watch policy. Children changes their skin color every 5 to 10 years and it is quite usual to have bit dark color in childhood period.
The most important part is to use a sunscreen regularly in open environment and on exposure to sun.
Take a proper guidance and follow up with a good dermatologist so that all the problem can be dealt best for future time.
Protect him from direct sunlight.
Take care
