How To Handle Violent Behavior In Children?

Good evening. Today at daycare my four year old son told a classmate that he would kill her dad. later that day he told his teacher that he would get a gun and kill everyone in the school. We have no guns at home and I talk to our son when he is mean to someone about being nice. We do let him watch some violent cartoons, like Tom and Gerry and Teen Titans but the nonviolent cartoon greatly outweigh the violent ones. we do not let him watch movies or tv shows with gun or any other violence made for adults. I m worried though. Should our son see a counselor?

Mere ideas of violent behavior, should be a warning sign for parents to take precautionary measures for your child, before the situation becomes more critical. The situations should be analyzed in a proper way. This may be a wrong method developing in your child to get his / her demands fulfilled by telling you about these ideas. YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTIONS BEFORE these ideas turn into actions.

Apart from effect of screening gadgets on the behavior of kids, the ideas / actions of his / her peers may be affecting his/her behavior. Above all this a violent behavior between parents may be a prominent cause for all this. We should talk politely in a clear way with your child about this unwanted behavior of your child. If the situation does not improve or becomes worse, then it is a time for taking some professional help may be a counsellor or a behavior modification program technician.
