Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Since i had my epidural have had constant back pain that prevents me from picking my daughter up at times. I felt the needle hit bone or something when i was getting it. It was painful but more of a strange sensation than anything. Should i be concerned?
It is quite common that patient complain of back pain after epidural anesthesia. I would recommend you to meet a physiotherapist and start back muscle strengthening exercises. Apart from this avoid bending forward and lifting heavy weight for some time. You have not mentioned why you were given epidural, if it was for pregnancy or any uterus surgery, this can also contribute to back pain. Apart from physiotherapy hot water fomentation and diclofenec gel can also be useful.
