Hi, my partner was at football this evening and did not warm up properly. while walking to pick up the ball he heard a pop and felt a sharp pain. He has a lump now.. Its on the back of his leg, higher calf muscle.. It is soft to touch and painful when he extends leg out in front to walk.. Could this be a torn muscle..

Hello, Thanks for your query. From description it seems yo might developed calf muscle strain/pull. Treatment guidelines for a muscle strain or pull is as follows - * Adequate rest for a few days * Ice packing over the affected area once in 2 hours * Once the acute pain subsides, Moist heat application over the affected muscles * Gradual & gentle stretching exercises * analgesic & muscle relaxants as needed I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
